The PLA are pleased to announce that funding from the Mayor’s Air Quality Fund Round 3 of £500,000 has been approved. The project will retrofit 11 vessels, which could cut air pollutant emissions by up to 90% for these craft.

Speaking about the funding, Tanya Ferry, PLA Environment Manager, said “Protecting the environment is integral to our 2035 Thames Vision work to maximise use of the river for trade and recreation. Practical initiatives like this, working with businesses active up and down the river, from Teddington to the North Sea, are central to achieving our ambitious goals for maximising its social and economic potential”.

The scheme will be run in collaboration with Cross River Partnership and the City of London Corporation. We will now work on setting up a bidding process and will be in touch to let you know how to apply for funding.

More details will be released at the Greening Inland Shipping conference on the 10th September 2019. Sign up here if you haven’t already!
